The meeting between the two patriarchs lasted only two hours and a half. Most of the time, the hierarchs spoke in the presence of translators. The Russian patriarch, who came to Constantinople on the eve of the assembly of all the hierarchs of Constantinople, answered the journalists’ question on the result of the meeting with one sentence: “All is well!”
The Ukrainian TV channel Gromadske TV quoted Bishop Emmanuel Adamakis on its website: “The Church of Constantinople is strong and has opportunities around the world. The Ecumenical Patriarchate, with its long life and experience, is the first church of the Orthodox family. It plays a special role. As a result, solutions sometimes come from it. The main issue we talked about is the situation in the Ukraine. You know there has been a split for more than 25 years. The Ecumenical Patriarchate decided to use all means possible to solve the problem of the granting of autocephaly to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The decision was made in April. And we are implementing this solution. Patriarch Kirill was informed during his visit.” You can see the interview with Bishop Adamakis on the tweet below.
Official announcements are expected in the next hours.
