On Sunday, January 20, Archimandrite Alexander (Echevarria) was consecrated a bishop in the Russian Orthodox Cathedral (ROCOR) of Geneva.
The service was presided by Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany, assisted by three other hierarchs and several concelebrating priests. Bishop Alexander is the bishop of Vevey and vicar of the Western Europe diocese (Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia). Its ordinary is Bishop Irenei (Steenberg), who bears the title “of Richmond and Western Europe”. He currently resides in the United States and will move to London later on this year.
