Vladimir Resin, Member of the State Duma and curator of “Program 2000”, said that since this program was launched, 75 new churches have been built in Moscow.
“In eight years, 75 worship centers have been built in Moscow. 56 of them are already open to the public, 9 are about to be, and 10 are in process,” said Vladimir Resin at the meeting of the board of trustees of the Church Construction Support Fund in Moscow, on September 20.
That’s 21 more worship centers than originally planned. He also specified that since 2010, 234 projects have been opened. In addition, temporary churches have been built on 113 plots and funds have been raised for these as well.
“We strive to meet the wishes of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and of the Mayor to open 10 new churches every year. We opened 10 in 2017, and 6 are almost ready for the year 2018. ”
