Father Christophe Levalois’ book, Le christianisme orthodoxe face aux défis de la société occidentale [Orthodox Christianity and the Challenges of Western Society] (Cerf, 2018) was the topic of an interview and of two reviews. Here is a summary published on the author’s blog:
In its introduction, the interview specifies that “this key book will also be of interest to Roman Catholics for the new light it brings on the Christian phenomenon today “.
In the online magazine Philitt, a substantial review was published entitled “Orthodoxy: spiritual resources in Western liberal societies”. It is particularly stated, “In this book, the author aims to identify some current elements in the relationship between Orthodoxy and the West, nearly a generation after the fall of communism. ”
The other review was published in Unité des chrétiens. Here is an excerpt:
“The author does not simply give a presentation of Orthodoxy through its spirituality, liturgy, ethics, and traditions. Combining his great erudition and pastoral experience in France, Christophe Levalois also reveals the relevance of Orthodoxy in Western society, for our contemporary society, for the Roman Catholic Church, for ecumenical life, and also for Orthodoxy itself. As such, the book is particularly interesting and original. This book is for all Christians curious about Orthodoxy and desiring to live ecumenism as an exchange of gifts.”
